Key Concepts: Economic Computation, Part II
نویسنده
چکیده
In this section we will talk about some simple algorithms for looking up items in a sorted list. Broadly speaking, an algorithm is a group of instructions that completely characterize the process of converting a set of inputs into desired outputs. To illustrate this concept, we shall solve a basic search problem. Let L = {l1, l2, . . . , lK} denote a set of ordered objects, where lk precedes lk+1 in the ordering for all k. For example, the list L can be a list of alphabetized words or a set of real numbers ordered from least to greatest. Let l∗ denote a single object similar to those in the list L. Our objective is to find the correct placement for l∗ in the list L. In other words, we wish to devise an algorithm that accepts inputs L and l∗, and produces an output k∗ ∈ N such that the list L∗ = {l1, . . . , lk∗−1, l∗, lk∗ , . . . , lK} is an ordered list.

An Introduction to Quantum Game Theory
Quantum game theory is an important development in quantum computation, and has implications both for classical economic game theory and for quantum mechanics. Unfortunately, the quantum mechanical and quantum computational knowledge assumed in the literature presents a serious communication barrier for most economists. In the other direction, quantum game theory does not always seem to be cogn...
متن کاملSensemaking in economics : economic activity from a social - philosophical perspective
The purpose of this project is to formulate the theoretical fundamentals of an economic philosophy that is understood as a component of a practically oriented social philosophy. I start by recapitulating the major critiques of the traditional framework of economic theory, in particular of the concepts of rational choice and 'methodological individualism'. The limited scope of these concepts for...
متن کاملAdvances in Heart Failure Heart Failure in Children Part II: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Future Directions
This is the second of a 2-part review of heart failure in children. In Part I, we focused on history, definition, etiology, and pathophysiology.1 In Part II, we review diagnosis, treatment, and future directions. The intention is to highlight key concepts and trends, with the goal of stimulating further interest in research to support evidence-based treatment in pediatric cardiovascular disease.
متن کاملSecure Processors Part II: Intel SGX Security Analysis and MIT Sanctum Architecture
This manuscript is the second in a two part survey and analysis of the state of the art in secure processor systems, with a specific focus on remote software attestation and software isolation. The first part established the taxonomy and prerequisite concepts relevant to an examination of the state of the art in trusted remote computation: attested software isolation containers (enclaves). This...
متن کاملSearching RC5-Keys with Distributed Reconfigurable Computing
Distributed Computing projects such as SETI@home or distributed.net have demonstrated how supercomputer performance can be achieved by the use of thousands of linked computers contributing their idle time. The goal of this paper is to combine traditional Distributed Computing concepts with reconfigurable hardware, where free resource area can be used to achive computation speed-ups. Our approac...
